63 days left..

.. and some funny stuff happened since last time I wrote.

My cold is over and my left foot seems to be okay even if I can feel a very small pain when warming up. Well, I’m 53 years old but my last tests at MIUN:s dept. of physically science (the university here) said I was like a 20 year old youth J

I’ve been running more and more every week for a while now and have some great plans doing a lot of miles this Easter-holiday. There are great running up here in the mountains even when snow (if not to much snow). The views are great and so are the friends! My running just keep on giving me new friends all the time which makes me to a very happy person J

Once again I must say Thank You to all that people, animals and nature that inspires me to inspire others. It almost turned out to be a cause..

Following pictures are from my visit up in the mountains this Easter.

Great Friday with Sarah B and Tobias J in the ski lift up on Mullfjället.

Katrien. v. C and Henrik T in eager anticipation for the run!
Flexirun himself.
Always with a smile!

Just a cool picture in the lift up.

Here vi struggle up, up, up...
Well, just about 6 miles! Then we ran in tracks from snowmobiles ;-)

Iwo Jima, 1945..

Great friends on the run.
Ok, time to move. You can't stand still to long.
You're cooled very rapidly!
The light this very day was absolutely magic!

Here we are on our way down the mountain.
Total milage of the run was about 13 miles.
The day after the great "snow-run" I was planning a recovery-run.
A friend, Mari R, invited me to a "recovery-coffee" ;-)
Mari's a swimmer and plan to swim really far along a river in a couple of month..
Cool I think! :-)
Well, time for the next long-run (Sunday) with my friends Katrien, Tobias and Henrik.
We where transported by car about 15-16 miles away.
Alright, here we are in a hard uphill struggling.
All very positive even if full of lactic acid.
This my feeling of the day!
This is my feelings for the day. Feels like I would want to hug the whole world!
:-D
Me, Katrien, Tobias, Henrik and Hedda in the back.
Just after we arrived to the hotel Fjällporten.

If you ever come to Sweden contact Fjällporten! Then you will have an incredible run with great guides in an extraordinary nature with good accommodation and good food.
The Monday Morning and Elton and me are out for a walk.
The sun is about to rise.
18 Nike FreeRun 5.0
Pretty nice minimalist-shoes to run in.
Mondays run after about 5 miles.
The church's from the twelfth century!
Link to the old church in Åre.
Well, after so much running, it is important to release your feet
and let them feel the sun's life-giving rays!
:-)
As always, friends out there, never forget to say Hello! and Smile when meet people!

73 days left...

... to the relay and here's the St.Olavsloppet the movie!

Well, hi there again! I'm so proud that people really read my little crazy blog. Thank You all! Guess You're the big stars of this blog. Without You.. no blog. From mid January until about two weeks ago I've been sick (cold) and also a crazy injure in my left foot. Some kind of pain that was hard to get rid of. I did a lot of alternative training and used a cream made of Aloe Vera. An ointment that increases blood circulation. I'm alright almost 100% I think :-)

I have also started going to the gym to increase my leg muscles a little. This is to simply increase the amount of glycogen to be stored. After about 2-2:10 hours this energy ends and your body  begins to burn different types of fats instead.

I´m not a bodybuilder but it's fun ending up my running-journeys at the gym. Hard but after just about 6 times I already can see some positive results. There are also some great people down there to chat around with :-)
Me in the beginning of a 3,4 mile long hill...
The day gave me 13,1 more great miles to my legs. I went out slowly but increased gradually and then pushed what I had in 3.67 miles with 642 feet elevation difference... It was hard but went incredibly well :-)
"Flexirun "at the the top of the hill!
Still smiling as usual! ;-)
The race on Saturday was absolutely lovely but quite tough so I took it much calmer on Sunday. Also took the opportunity to do a little longer walk with Elton to check out the surroundings a bit. I've heard swans so perhaps we'll might see them. Although it looks like winter is spring after all on the way.
"Down by the river"
Well, brought Elton out for a nice walk in Åre.
The beavers have had their party-time I guess!
These animals have great teeth..
Elton is pissed that he missed the party with the beavers! ;-)
Well, I think the great feelings from The Great Big Lake Run (138,88 miles in 43:57:04 h) now are coming back to me. Only 73, soon 72, days left now to the next big thing.
Hope that The Great Relay (205 miles), June 25-28, will be fun. Me and a friend named Staffan Westberg will run it together. Normally there's about 20-30 people running in a team but we are.. TWO! It's in four days so I think it will be ok.

Ok, I'm running about 30-35 miles per week right now but increasing a little every wee. Going to the gym is, for an example, one kind of increase.

Take care if You run on roads with crazy cars and please say Hello and Smile when you meat a person!

85 days left to relay..

..between Trondheim (Norway) to Ostersund (Sweden) and I feel better and better after my cold.

I've started to go to a gym! Well, I'm not a bodybuilder but just want to improve my running with strength and mobility. It's really fun and also nice to meet more great people!
Summertime I normally alternating between running and cycling. From now on, I will also go to the gym.
Majsans honey is best for colds!
Honey is great when cold. Honey is actually really good both when you have a cold and purely preventive. I normally use it directly on bread and sometimes in a cup of hot water. There is a poison in the honey that keeps insects away. In this way builds my immune up against this poison and the chance for cold reduces. Just start to put a spoon of honey in the hot water (which incidentally destroys the "poison" and the effect) and then one spoon in your mouth ;-)

View from Saturdays run. Sunny and nice!
A happy #ELS-runner!
A early Saturday morning.
Saturdays run was great and I felt alright. Just som stiffness from the gym.. ;-) I did 8,87 miles in about 80 min. 08:00 I went into the gym to do some exercise for my legs. I was not the first guy on the gym. It was fun and some nice chats :-)

I do not often buy a lot of stuff but today I went to the running store.
Well, a new jacket, singlet and a pair of  tights:-)
We did have a large hurricane here this fall and a lot of trees went down.
Unfortunately it's the trees just behind a school who used for education.
Well, there will be a new forrest but in about 70 years.

Now Team Flexirunners notified St.Olavsloppet! The relay between the city of Trondheim in Norway to the city of Östersund in Sweden. In four days I and a friend, two runners, to traverse 210.64 miles / 339 km!

Perhaps we will use at least the cap ;-)
I once read a book by a North American Indian by the name of Bear Heart. He was a very wise man both were trained medicine man and also a psychologist. He managed to unite these two cultures in a fantastic way. He has said many wise things. Here is a statement:

If we should fail, it is better to fail while trying rather than just giving up.

Take care and live every day! Say Hello and Smile to the one You meet out there.

90 days left to relay...

...and the past 1,5 months (since mid-January) has been a disaster in terms of my running. I've been sick in a great cold, light injured in my left foot etc, much work etc etc. Well, nothing to say about that. Not very big problems in a world like this. I'm still happy though :-)

Here a great day up in the mountains.
My son and I did som XC-skiing :-)
So nice :-)
My sons back! He's a good skier!
When taking a break.
Yes that's the Swedish Flag!
A happy me!

Katrien, a running friend, said she's been running here 1000 of times
and never seen the moose before. Well, this time they showed up!
3 calves, a cow and a bull moose :-)

This beauty got a kiss!

Well, as said before, I've been sick for about 4 weeks and not much running. Instead I did some alternative training. in terms of strength and mobility. I have this left foot that's not 100% right. Have to run less and take it a little easy. Sometimes it's not that bad not running for a while. I hope to be back soon though.

Last week I visited Winter Sports Centre at Mid Sweden University as a "customer" for the students studying to personal trainer. It really was hard but also very fun! All tests went very well and I'm satisfied with my values :-)

Lactate test... Hard maxtest on the treadmill.
Another maxtest. I'll never gonna be a bodybuilder ;-)
Elton and me running in tracks from snowmobiles.
Quite hard but very good exercise for my  ankles.
After the run with Elton I went for a longer and harder run myself.
No, I'm not angry, just tired!
Well, I'm on again blogging :-) Feels nice! Take care out there and try to say Hello! and smile a little to people You meet. It's magic!

Oops, I forgot to mention that I go to the gym every Wednesday and Saturday for my running session

Easy, Light and Smooth my friends!

136 days left to relay...

... and I feel terrific! I have been studying Medical Genetics for one term. Autumn just flew away! It really was interesting but I'm happy it's over.

I am so sorry for everyone who waited quite some time to a post on the blog now. But those who wait for something good never waits too long, it is said. So here, all friends out there, now a bit longer post than usual :-)

Maybe as many of You already now about me. I'm not just a runner. I'm a runner who almost always goes on emotions when I run. I have been running for all my life and still love it. Think it's the best way of loading myself both physically and mentally.
I do follow three words when running and has done so since the start when just a little kid. Those three little words my mentor told me when rush to fast and got tired in just a short time.

Easy, Light and Smooth

Ever since I was about 8-10 years old those words got stuck into my mind and I'll never got them out of there... Well, sure I do som hard runs sometimes. Once a week I do run hills in about 90-100% of what I can do. Once a week I do run "fartlek" in approximately 80-85% of my max (meaning I vary the pace during the run). The rest of my runs are so called ELS-runs in a quite low pace. Those runs are building up my endurance to high levels.

The amount of training the last few weeks has been lower than usual due to a sore foot. Well, instead I have been doing some XC-skiing and cross-training instead. Perhaps the body wanted to rest :-)
When injured remember to relax and don't stress to start running to fast. Be sure to be healthy first!

A lot of things happened lately. Finishing my studies in Med. Genetics, lot to do at work, some running and follow my oldest dog, Adam, to his last sleep...

Yes, sad but life is made up of different parts, and death is one of them. Perhaps a prerequisite for new life...

Adam... R.I.P. (Run In Peace)

Adam The Great
Elton and Adam play around up in the mountains 3 years ago.

Full of life!
Adam and Elton in the lodge up in the mountains.
Well, what will happen during the year in terms of my running then? I have three events in front of me. To begin with, I will, once again, run a marathon with my daughter Ingrid. So this is the Stockholm Marathon on May 30, becoming the first chaser event. I will probably not run for a time. Instead I will run with my daughter all the way. Going to be so fun!
The Great Medal

1st half in 2:12:27 and 2nd half in 2:14:41.
PROUD!

On June 25 to 28, I will run a relay race between the two cities of Trondheim in Norway and Östersund in Sweden called St.Olavsloppet. Normally, to be a team with 20-30 runners. Often mixed with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. A proper running event!
The spectacular is that on my team, FlexiRunners, we are only two runners!? The distance to be accomplished in four days is about 330K (205 miles) Spread over 51 routes. Should be fun! :-)
We are going to run from Trondheim in Norway to Östersund in Sweden.
Check out the altitude! ;-)
The biggest challenge, after all, is eprobably Skövde Ultrafestival on August 1-3. It did take 43:57:04 h tu run 137,88 miles so hopefully I can do about 10-15 more miles. Anything can happen so... One really must be open minded and never rush to fast first 24 hours. The sports ground is where I once started to run in the beginning. Going to be so fun to come back and run there again! :-)

Heroes at Sövde Ultrafestival 2013.

Well, as always, remember to say hello and smile to the one You meet out there... :-)
